Winner of the student #instascottbrownrigg photography competition announced

The winner of the 2018 #instascottbrownrigg photography competition has been awarded to architectural student Chrysanthi Sini from the University of Nottingham. Chrysanthi wins a week learning from Scott Brownrigg’s award-winning architecture and interior design teams.

Now in its second year, the student photography competition on Instagram aims to engage with schools of architecture and the next generation of designer. Providing an opportunity for architecture and interior design students to use their artistic eye for capturing the built environment, this year’s theme was “how architecture, design and nature coincide - how we reconnect with nature through architecture and design.”

Entries were judged on their creativity, composition, technical proficiency and relevance to the topic. The judging panel comprised Scott Brownrigg CEO Darren Comber, Board Director Neil MacOmish, Director of Practice Helen Taylor, Curator RIBA Photographs Collection Valeria Carullo, Architectural and Portrait Photographer Morley von Sternberg, and winner of the Instascottbrownrigg Competition Winner 2017 Matt Dunne.

A Private View and Award Ceremony was held on the 16 January with student entries showcased. Board Director Neil MacOmish announced the winners and runners up; first place was awarded to Chrysanthi Sinifrom University of Nottingham, Rebecca Morris from University of Nottingham took second place and Peter Brookes also from University of Nottingham took third place. 71 photos were entered in total by students from 13 Universities across the UK.

During the afternoon a careers workshop for those who entered the competition was held. The workshop reviewed interview techniques, C.V tips and portfolio development. There was an overview of our apprenticeship and graduate programs and Architects Dan Shevill and Vassia Diamanti presented on their career progression so far at Scott Brownrigg.  The group were then taken on an architectural tour of a Scott Brownrigg project in London.

Scott Brownrigg is committed to supporting the next generation of architects and interior designers and to developing closer relationships with universities across the UK.  If you are interested in learning more about the opportunities Scott Brownrigg offer, please contact careers@scottbrownrigg.
