Vista, Chelsea Bridge has been shortlisted for the AJ Specification Awards in the Landscaping category.

This category recognises the creative, inspired or innovative use of landscaping products or materials in a new build or refurbishment project. Highlighting the creative solution or innovative design approach, which has enhanced or exceeded the brief.

Scott Brownrigg are shortlisted alongside Barton Willmore for their Landscape Architecture. The judges determined that “the Landscaping element of the scheme [Vista], with its stepped terraces, was the really strong aspect of its design”.

Situated directly opposite Battersea Park, the design for the residential development Vista responds to views across the park, embracing them and incorporating soft landscape wherever possible. Designed to minimise their mass and bulk, the buildings step back to create an organic and curvilinear built form, this also allows for generous terraces and private amenity spaces rarely found in London. Each terrace incorporates an infinity style planted edge treatment creating a strong connection with the park. Provided by Lee Warren.

The architectural masterplan and the landscape design visually extend the park into the development with extensive outdoor landscaping, feature terraces, a landscaped garden and a communal sunken garden creating attractive public spaces and visually stimulating recreational space.

Culture has a key part to play in creating successful new places. Vista incorporates a public art programme and artwork strategy that builds upon the rich cultural heritage of this area of London, and enhances the landscaping. Working with UP Projects, the strategy integrates design elements and artworks into the public spaces. These include a playable sculptural garden by Matthew Darbyshire in a public courtyard within the pedestrian route through the site.
