Three Rivers Academy has been shortlisted for the inaugural AJ Specification Award

When great products meet great design …. The AJ Specification Awards recognise the key importance of collaboration between product and material suppliers/manufacturers and architects to the success of a project showcasing outstanding case studies where products and materials have been used creatively to make great buildings.

Scott Brownrigg with supplier Innovaré have been shortlisted for Three Rivers Academy in the Offsite Fabrication Category. 61 architecture practice’ and product supplier teams across 12 categories have been shortlisted. Each category has been judged by a panel of experts in their fields.  With submitted projects assessed on how they have addressed a specific design challenge and how they have demonstrated the quality of teamwork and collaboration to lead to the outstanding use of a product or material to meet the challenge or exceed the brief.

Innovaré are the only major UK supplier to design, manufacture and install offsite solutions using SIPs. The i-SIP System was used to wrap the primary frame of Three Rivers Academy, which was a cast in situ concrete frame. Providing a fast, safe and thermally efficient envelope, the system was also flexible enough to over clad the steel hybrid structure of the houses positioned above the concrete frame. Offering superior energy efficiency, with low U-values and thinner walls, the inherent insulating properties and air tightness of a finished iSIP structure reduces the energy consumption and running costs of the new building.

The new 1,875-pupil school is a rare example of a new state school building procured outside the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) Contractor Framework. Commissioned by the Surrey based Multi-Academy Trust - The Howard Partnership, the new school provides high quality, spacious facilities to inspire 21st Century learning, with a Vision to create a “world class learning environment for students”.

The winners will be announced at a celebratory lunch to be held in Manchester on 15 February 2019.
